Thanks for your interest.
I'm Anna, the person behind this website and Sanctuary Innerwear.
I've been a sewist for over 50 years, having made my own wardrobe many times over, my wedding dress, and all the soft furnishings for my house. Five years ago, I took a year off my teaching job to indulge myself. I enrolled at the Haliburton School of Art and Design in the Fibre Arts Certificate Program. After that, I began a line of clothing called iag Originals, which featured Lenzing Tencel® fabric, plant dyes and my own designs. That line has led the way to this, and the similarities are obvious.
Mission and Vision
I remain committed to using Lenzing Tencel® in all the clothes I make and wear. Through my research and reading, I am confident that this brand of eucalyptus fabric is the most ecological of any, and the company is completely transparent in its wood sourcing and manufacturing process.
I'm also committed to using plants as dyes. The only chemicals I allow into my dyeing process are thiourea dioxide, which makes for an indigo that I feel confident will last. This year I am actively phasing this chemical out, and reducing the indigo with organic methods.
Finally, I will never outsource any of my processes to another country.
I'm not an environmentalist nor do I have strong feelings about policies or politics.
I'm just happiest when I use the gifts I have been given, whether they are talents or trees. In turn, I feel it's important to return something that will benefit the giver. It's only fair.
